The Integrated Land-Use Planning Roadmap

The landscapes of the Eastern Caribbean are under increasing pressure from expanding cities, farms, and roads. Without coordination, growth can come at the cost of nature and safety.Through integrated land-use planning, we can ensure that every hectare supports both people and the planet — balancing conservation, livelihoods, and resilience.

Context and Importance
Across the OECS, land is the foundation of our homes, food, and economies — yet it’s also at the center of competing pressures. Urban expansion, agriculture, and infrastructure often overlap with vital ecosystems and disaster-prone zones.

The Integrated Land-Use Planning Roadmap offers a science-based, inclusive framework to align development with conservation. It empowers governments, communities, and businesses to plan together, reducing conflict and ensuring sustainable growth.

This roadmap envisions an OECS where biodiversity, safety, and prosperity coexist — where every land-use decision contributes to a resilient and nature-positive future.
